Spandana Heart Foundation is a charitable organisation based in Chennai, India, dedicated to supporting patients living with Pulmonary Hypertension, Heart Failure and other serious cardiovascular and pulmonary vascular conditions. We provide financial assistance for essential medicines and treatment to eligible patients who face difficulty meeting the cost of their ongoing medical care.

Spandana Heart Foundation was founded by a group of eight cardiologists who care for patients living with Heart Failure and Pulmonary Hypertension. Every day, we see not only the medical challenges these patients face, but also the emotional, social and financial burden that often accompanies long-term treatment.
We understand how difficult it can be for patients and families to continue essential medicines when the cost of treatment becomes a significant burden. As doctors, our responsibility has traditionally been to diagnose, prescribe and guide treatment. But we wanted to do more. We wanted to help our patients not only receive a prescription, but also have a better chance of actually continuing the treatment they need. This belief led to the creation of Spandana Heart Foundation.
Our aim is to bring together medical expertise, compassion and the generosity of donors to help eligible patients overcome financial barriers to essential treatment.

Spandana Heart Foundation supports eligible patients with serious cardiovascular and pulmonary vascular conditions who require essential treatment and may face financial difficulties in accessing their care. Patient assistance is considered based on medical needs, treatment requirements and financial circumstances, with appropriate assessment and documentation.
Patients with High lung pressures with or without consequent Right Heart failure will need multiple Pulmonary vasodilator medications to breathe normally and continue with their daily activities without much difficulty. This condition ca occur with out any underlying disease (Primary Pulmonary Hypertension) or it can occur secondary to lung disease or systematic illnesses or congenital heart diseases.
Patients with Left heart failure or Right heart failure or Combined left and right heart failure will need multiple anti failure medications to remain stable. The Heart failure can occur due to any underlying cause including Coronary artery disease, Heart muscle disease or congenital Heart defects or any systemic illness.
Patients with advanced or end-stage heart failure who are not suitable for Transplantation or circulatory assist device therapies will require only palliative care which means symptom-focussed treatment. The end-of-life support can be given at home or in the hospital with either Intravenous or Oral medications.
Patients who have undergone Heart transplantation or heart–lung transplantation will require ongoing immunosuppressive treatment and associated medical care to prevent rejection of the new Heart. These patients will also need multiple supportive medications / measures to protect from serious infections.
